Facelift with Manhattan Cosmetic Surgeon Stafford R. Broumand

One of the most common facial cosmetic procedures, facelift can help patients with sagging, wrinkled skin achieve a more youthful appearance. Dr. Stafford R. Broumand offers facelift to Manhattan patients who would like to tighten and smooth their facial skin and define facial features.

As we age, the muscles in our face tend to relax causing facial skin to sag and wrinkle, and fat deposits develop causing puffiness and uneven features. The facelift procedure is designed to restore a more youthful appearance by tightening these muscles and removing fatty deposits. During facelift, tiny incisions are made near the hairline and the skin is gently pulled away from the face. Excess fat below the skin is removed and sagging muscles are pulled and tightened. Finally, excess skin is trimmed away, re-draped, and then secured back in place with sutures. The entire facelift procedure lasts between 2-4 hours and will be performed at our surgical facility in Manhattan. The result is a smoother, younger-looking face.

The best candidates for facelift are individuals who would like to look like themselves … but several years younger. Dr. Stafford R. Broumand offers facelift to Manhattan patients who are seeking to “turn back the hands of time” – not patients who want to look dramatically different.

Browlift – Manhattan, New York City

For some patients, a full facelift may not be necessary. Younger patients (usually between the ages of 40-60) may only require a browlift (also known as forehead lift) to correct the problem of wrinkles or sagging facial features. Like facelift, we offer browlift to New York patients who are seeking to restore a more youthful appearance. Unlike facelift, however, browlift requires shorter time to complete and is also less invasive. Browlift is often performed in conjunction with blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) for maximum aesthetic results.

During browlift, New York surgeon Stafford R. Broumand will make tiny incisions along the patient’s hairline. He will then enter through these small incisions and gently lift the skin around the forehead away from the face. Once the skin is pulled back, excess fat will be removed, excess tissue will be trimmed away, and the underlying muscles will be altered or tightened. If the patient has elected to undergo blepharoplasty with his or her browlift, the blepharoplasty procedure will be completed at this time. Once the underlying tissue and fat has been removed and the muscles repositioned, the skin will be re-draped over the face, completing the browlift. New York patients at our facility are generally in surgery for approximately 2-3 hours while undergoing browlift.

Excellent candidates for browlift are individuals who have developed significant creases in or around the brow area due to age or inherited traits. Often, these patients do not need or desire to minimize the appearance of wrinkles around other areas of the face.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) – New York City

Fatty deposits around the eyelids can cause a myriad of problems – both aesthetic and physiological. Puffy, swollen eyelids often make an individual look more tired or older than he or she truly is. Additionally, swollen eyelids can impair the patient’s vision by obstructing the viewing area of the eye. For patients suffering from thick eyelids caused by fatty deposits, Dr. Stafford R. Broumand offers blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery. New York City area patients who are seeking relief from thick eyelids may be excellent candidates for this procedure.

Often performed in conjunction with browlift, blepharoplasty can enhance facial features and improve a patient’s appearance. Eyelid surgery is designed to carefully remove excess fat and tissue around the eyelids, thereby reducing puffiness and restoring a more youthful appearance. For patients undergoing blepharoplasty at our New York City facility, the procedure begins with small incisions within the natural creases under the eyelids. Excess fat will be removed through a liposuction-like procedure and excess tissue will be removed. Additionally, during eyelid surgery any sagging skin around the eye will be trimmed away. The incisions will then be closed with tiny sutures, completing the eyelid surgery. New York patients may be in surgery from 1-2 hours, depending on how many eyelids will receive treatment (2 or 4).

Candidates for blepharoplasty at our New York City practice usually have thick eyelids that hang low or look puffy above or below the eye. Often, these patients experience obstructed views due to the low-hanging brow.

Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)

Large, protruding ears can be the cause of concern and embarrassment – especially for small children. When the ears stick out from the head, they often decrease an individual’s appearance by diminishing facial proportions. Otoplasty, also known as ear surgery, can reduce the prominence of a patient’s ears, thereby enhancing his or her appearance.

Otoplasty is designed to reshape the cartilage within the ears and also to pull the ears close to the sides of the patient’s head. During otoplasty, small incisions are made behind the ear to expose the underlying cartilage. The cartilage is then reshaped until the ears are the desired size and shape. In some cases of protruding ears, the surgeon may use non-removable stitches to hold the ears in place. Once the cartilage has been reshaped and the stitches are in place, the incisions will be closed with small sutures, completing the ear surgery.
