Rhinoplasty in Manhattan, New York City
As the most prominent feature on the face, the nose can either enhance or hinder a patient’s appearance. While a well-shaped nose can add balance and proportion to the face, a large, misshapen nose can truly diminish one’s appearance. For patients who are seeking to reduce, enlarge, or reshape their noses, Dr. Stafford R. Broumand offers rhinoplasty. Manhattan area patients who are seeking nose surgery can undergo this procedure at our Park Avenue facility.
Rhinoplasty is designed to restore proportion to the face by altering the shape and size of a patient’s nose. Whether the problem is inherited or due to trauma to the face, rhinoplasty can help to improve the appearance of the nose. The rhinoplasty procedure begins with small incisions around the natural creases at the base of the nose. The skin covering the nose is gently lifted and pulled back. Next, the bone and cartilage under the skin is reshaped to the desired shape and size. If the nose is to be enlarged, plastic enhancements will be fitted and placed in their proper position. Once the nose is the desired shape and size, the skin will be re-draped, and any excess will be trimmed away. Finally, small sutures will close the incisions, completing rhinoplasty. Manhattan patients at our facility will be required to wear a splint to help the nose maintain its new shape. Depending on how much work is required, the rhinoplasty procedure can last 1-3 hours.
Candidates for rhinoplasty at our Manhattan practice are individuals who are uncomfortable with the size or shape of their noses. In many cases, the problem is genetic, and in others it is due to an accident or facial trauma.
